AcornVac® System Included in Prize-Winning Plumbing Design

AcornVac Vacuum Plumbing Systems were a key component in a SmithGroup project awarded Plumbing Design of the Year by Plumbing Engineer Magazine.

The Plumbing Design of the Year award was created this year as Reader's Choice award to recognize excellence in plumbing design. Smith Group was the chosen winner for their work on the Valencia COVID Test Facility.

The project had an aggressive timeline, and below slab sanitary waste piping was not a feasible option. Using AcornVac Vacuum Plumbing Systems allowed “…construction to commence concurrent with the lab space programming. Since all the waste piping was routed overhead without a single slab cut, the design marched forward while the contractors began other onsite preparations.”
